On Monday the 6th May nine of the year 7-8 Drama students travelled into Launceston to compete at the annual Launceston Speech and Drama Competitions at the Earl Arts Centre. This year we had three entries in the character duo/trio section which were as follows:
Jade, Fiona and Zoe in The Manhunt
Lily and Natiri in Home Alone
Jaylee, Sharyia and Alina in Star Search.
Each student did and wonderful job and had spent the better part of Term One rehearsing their scripts. It takes a great deal of courage and commitment to be able to both rehearse and then perform a scene to an audience so they should be very proud of themselves. This year the group with Jade, Fiona and Zoe took out second place in their section which is outstanding! All of the girls are to be commended on their wonderful efforts as they all did a fantastic job.

Make each day count
Welcome back to Term 2, we hope you enjoyed your break.
By showing up to school every day, your child will have the best opportunity at a bright future. It gives them every chance to be around friends, learn new things, and find interests.
We have lots in store for this term, including
- Lantern Making open afternoon
- Chess club every Friday.
- TPSSA and NHSSA Cross Country
Good attendance habits can sometimes be hard to stick. Keep trying to create a solid routine, to set your child up for success for the rest of the year.
If you’re looking for tips on how to create better attendance habits, visit the Anything can happen website.
Please always talk to us if you’re having trouble getting your child to school. We’re here to help.
As we settle in to term 2 we have many opportunities for students to be their best in a variety of ways, whether it be applying yourself to learning, academic achievement, attending school.
Term 2 will see mid-year reports sent home P-10 in Week 9. Teachers are preparing for this by meeting regularly in their Professional Learning Teams to plan and deliver common assessment tasks to provide accurate information to families when the report is written.
At last weeks Professional Learning Community teacher workshopped the DECYP values and how we are demonstrating the values in all that we do. At Lilydale we believe we are out best when we are safe, successful learners this is underpinned by the Department of Education, Community and Young People values.

Parent Information Session
All parents are invited to attend an information session about future opportunities for students after Year 10. Even if your child is in a younger year level, understanding how to support them after Year 10 can be extremely valuable. The Parent Information session will coincide with Parent Teacher night on Tuesday July 2 starting at 4:30. There will be a chance for any speakers attending to discuss how they would support your child, they will then form a panel to answer any questions before providing a chance to have individual conversations. We hope to have as many Lilydale families there as possible.
High School – Student of the Week
Every week all staff, Student Leaders and the wider community have the opportunity to nominate a High school student for ‘student of the week’. Affectionally known as the Lilydale Legends. These nominations acknowledge when another person has noticed the student demonstrating our school values of being safe, respectful and learning. The student will be acknowledged in our High School assembly and receive a certificate that explains what it was for and the person that nominated them.
