On Tuesday, 29October, we held our annual 3-10 Swimming Carnival at the Scottsdale Aquatic Centre. Similar to last year, the carnival was split into two sessions, primary students in the morning, and high school students in the afternoon.
The weather conditions were perfect for a great day of racing, participating in novelty events and cheering each other on. The events that took place were freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, sea horse race, cork scramble and the cannon bomb competition.
The day started in an extremely positive manner, as our primary students were making a splash, racing in the sea horse race, and diving to the bottom of the pool to retrieve points for their house. As the day was much about participation there was a significant amount of competition, which was evident in the competitive races across all year levels.
As the day progressed, it was time for the high school carnival to begin. Students arrived with a ‘can do’ attitude, and plenty of house spirit. The addition of the cannon bomb competition for the high school students was a huge hit, as they made a mark with several huge splashes.
Overall, both students and staff had a great day building connections and participating in activities away from the classroom.
At the conclusion of the day, Corinna were crowned Swimming Champions, totalling 429 points, which was followed by Maralinga on 418 points.
Students will receive their ribbons in the sector assembly. Below are the Swimming Carnival Champions for 2024.
